Drivers of change interview | Marie McCrea

Marie McCrea, Partner at CIL in South Africa, talks to ACCA about the accountancy futures research Drivers of Change

This interview focuses on the imperatives for business and the profession that were identified in the Drivers of Change research.

An imperative for business is to assume and plan for volatility. With uncertainty as the new norm, businesses have to factor in turbulence as a very real possibility and develop strategies for a range of different economic and market scenarios.

An imperative for the accountancy profession is to reinvent the talent pool. The diverse range of demands and impacts on the profession is forcing a rethink of everything from training and development through to the type of people being recruited. Characteristics such as entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity, creativity and strategic thinking skills could assume far more significance in the selection of tomorrow's accountants.
